Reunion 1999: Class Notes from Gary King (May 1999)
The past few years have been challenging and I have been blessed with a good family, a challenging career, and several re-locations.
We currently live in a small town in Eastern Iowa; Kalona. It is near Iowa City, the Univ. of Iowa is in Iowa City. Unfortunately, all I here about is Big Ten this and that....also, I am sick and tired of Iowa Univ winning the Nationals in Wrestling. I work with a group of very aggressive people who continually remind me of OSU’s inability to win the tournament. Oh, well some day!!
One of our daughters is out of the house making, more of less, her own way, our other daughter will be a sophomore in High School next year. Some days I feel to old to still have a High School Kid!
By the way, this little town we live in is in the middle of Amish Country. They still drive horses and buggies, and you have to pay attention when driving. They own businesses in town, and park there horses on main street. It is a quaint little town, a lot of antiques, and quilting is a big business here.
The pheasant hunting is excellent, and the deer population is extremely dense. They are a menace on the highway. Several are killed every day.
I was in Stillwater a couple of weeks ago visiting Mother. She has moved into a smaller house just west of Boomer Lake near the Army Reserve Center. The town is growing and looks good. Sometimes I thank it would be good to be back, but I don’t expect that to happen.
Say hi for me, and I’ll look for you in June.
