Reunion 1999: Class Notes from Robert Allende Perryman (Spring 1999)

(These are notes from Robert's wife, Joy Perryman.)

Bob has retired from Chevron after 28 1/2 years. They were down sizing so instead of going into “redeployment” and taking any old job they wanted to give him, he chose to retire. It was a very good move for him, both emotionally and financially. He stayed at home for about 6 months but began to go stir crazy so he went to work for our local bowling alley as a desk man. He likes it but he’s on his feet a lot. I work for Bio-Rad Laboratories in Hercules, CA. I’ve been with the company for 24 years last November. I am the Secretary (my actual title is Senior Staff Administrative Associate) for the Sales Force. I have 72 reps and managers that I take care of so I am very busy. I got to go to Florida last January for our Annual Sales Meeting. That was a lot of fun, but a lot of work, too.

We have 2 daughters, Lisa (27) and Lori (25), and 3 grandchildren, Melanie (8), Ashley (4) and Jacob (2). They are great. Lisa and her husband Kevin live in Martinez (about 20 minutes from us) and they have Melanie and Jacob. Lori lives with us, as well as my Mother, so we have 4 generations in our house with my Mom, me, Lori and Ashley. Bob is out numbered!

Bob’s Mother, Gladys Allende, published her first book at the age of 76! It is called “Precious Memories” and is a series of short stories about her growing up in the depression. You laugh, cry, but mostly laugh! Anyone interested in obtaining a copy can contact me and Bob. We still have a few copies left.

This is a small part of our history together. We were married 31 years in December of 1998.
