Bio, 2014: Frank White

To all:

After reading the exciting bios of others, I’ve decided to bore everyone with mine.

After graduation I attended OSU majoring in skirtology. Ask me how that worked out with my GPA. Soon Uncle Sam started calling. It was during this time I met the love of my life Teresa. My cousin (Sally Ground’s future husband) and I were out tipping a few when we stopped at the A&W Drive Inn for a snack. This cute little carhop brought our order out. I didn’t know she was the owner’s daughter. The rest is history. We’ve been married 47 years this July 1.

After my active duty in the Army was completed I came back to Stillwater, got married and went to work for Southwestern Bell.

A few years later Teresa and I decided to adopt a child. In May, 1973 our lawyer called to tell us he had a baby boy for us to adopt. We couldn’t have been happier. The following year when Jeff was 13 months old, the Costa Rican government notified us we had been chosen to adopt a baby girl, Erika. Teresa flew down and made all the arrangements. Dealing with a foreign government can be a lot of fun. I flew down and brought them home. Our son, Jeff, lives in California, is married and has two children, Liam and Jada. Our daughter, Erika, lives in Holdenville, is married and has two children, Emily and Will. We have learned why everybody says grandkids are much more fun than your own kids.

In 1978 I was promoted into management with SW Bell and we moved to Ponca City. We stayed there until 1980 when I was transferred back to Stillwater. In 1980 I experienced my second love, RV traveling. We bought our first motorhome that year and have traveled ever since. Our current coach has all the comforts of home and we plan on doing a lot of traveling starting this spring when Teresa retires. In 1986 Ma Bell transferred me again to Holdenville where I supervised 19 men from I-40 to McAllister to Shawnee. That’s a lot of telephones to keep working (no cell phones back then). 1992 was the year my life turned upside down. In the span of one year our son Jeff went off to college, OSU or course, our daughter Erika got married and moved to Wyoming and Teresa, a CPA with an oil and gas company, was offered and accepted a job in Tulsa. It sure was quiet at my house but I really improved my golf game. It was four years until I could retire. In 1996 I retired from SW Bell, joined Teresa in Broken Arrow and went to work for a commercial drywall company as warehouse, tool and equipment manager. I stayed there until this past year when I retired again.

It seems like I have gone on forever and I know most of you have given up and hit delete or fallen asleep. Sorry I went on so long. However, I won’t be able to see you in June as we will be on a trip to Alaska. So until we meet again, may God bless and keep each and every one of you.
