Bio, 2014: Jo Ella Hemphill Hansen

When I graduated from high school, I dreamed of a career that would take me all over the world. Instead, I got married and tried to be the best mom I could be to my son and daughter. In 1975, I learned how to snow ski and scuba dive. We traveled out of the country several times.

My daughter actually is living my dream. Her job takes her all over the world. My son has alsoexperienced my passion for sports. He has gotten to see the World Series, the Super Bowl and lots of other bowl games and OSU sporting events.

Dennis and my goal was to do a lot of traveling after he retired. Dennis retired in 2000 at the age of 56, but within a year he had a quadruple bypass, so traveling was put on hold for a while. Then his health started deteriorating and he passed away in 2010.

My daughter lives with me now and in 2012 we went to London and Scotland, places I always wanted to see and her British friends took us around both places. We are planning to go back to London later this year.

I am proud that my classmates have gone on to do great things in their lives. I will always think that our class is so special. We had that "one for all and all for one" attitude whether it was threatening a walkout after being runner-up in state football playoffs or throwing our caps in the air at graduation. The Class of 1964 is awesome and I am so glad I was part of it.
