2002 - present:

In April, 2002 I accepted (eagerly) an early retirement from Civil Service. Since then I have worked part-time as a patent agent, an independent contractor to an intellectual property firm in San Diego. This allows plenty of time for leisure activities such as bicycling, swimming and Hungarian couple dancing.

My travel is mostly to Hanalei, Kauai, which I visit for a few weeks in Oct/Nov/Dec each year to body-board, and to visit friends I’ve met there. I have taken a few trips to the Pacific Northwest (Raft Island WA, Olympic Peninsula, Victoria, Vancouver) for dance camps and/or hiking. Occasionally I travel to Oklahoma, in the exotic interior of the North American Continent.
