Bio, 2014: Linda Bradley Hann

I won't say much...my life since last reunion has stayed about the same....GREAT!!...just getting a little older (chronologically, that is) every day but still staying very young in mind & spirit....here I am, about 3 years ago, volunteering & helping with the grape harvest at one of the greatest wineries in Oregon -- Reustle Prayer Rock --- I won't make the reunion as distance & poor health of husband make it difficult...I'll be thinking of you all...I wish everyone another 5 years of good health and many adventures to keep you young..ps..my ball cap says it all...go Cowboys!!!!

Bio, 2009

After graduating from SHS, I attended an all-girls college in Wichita, KS for two years & in the summer of 1966 enlisted in the Peace Corps. I spent the next 2 years in Tegucigalpa, Honduras (Central America) working with pre-school children in a government-sponsored day-care center. The mothers/fathers of these children all worked at the large open-air market in Comayaguela (sister city of Tegus) & the "school" was built above that market. It was a fabulous experience but so long ago now that I can hardly believe I was that person.

On return, I finished up school at OSU & then moved & lived in Washington, DC for another 2 years working for the federal government. I then transferred to the San Diego area for about 2 years & then back to DC. I met my husband, Vern, in 1972 & we were married in 1976 in Arlington, VA. We lived there until 1981.

Owing to his early law enforcement background, Vern took an early retirement & we relocated to the West Coast purchasing a 45 acre farm/ranch where we tried our hand at raising sheep & cattle. We had a lot of wild experiences with those animals - pretty different area from the farms & ranches of OK. We had a huge garden & canned/froze/dried practically any fruit, vegetable, herb we came in contact with. We also canned venison Vern hunted plus the salmon/trout/clams we would get on our camping trips to the Coast and mountains. We foraged for wild mushrooms, made wine & beer. What a life!!! In 1999 we sold our property & moved into Roseburg, a lovely area on I-5 about midway between the CA & WA borders. They call this area the "banana belt" of Oregon.

We still keep very busy - 2 acres is still a lot to manage. We also do volunteer work in the area as well as keep busy playing bridge, and for myself tending to my 12 cats. Yes, that's right TWELVE!!!! We live near the local animal shelter & I have inherited all of them.

This past week, I have been picking wine grapes for one of our many Umpqua Valley wineries. Our "wages" will go to the winery's Church for their overseas missions in Romania. I wish I were able to attend the reunion but all these four-footed children plus my lovely Elkhound dog, Dancer, require my attention. I hope everyone has a great time & thanks again for all the interesting E-mails, etc.
