Bio, 2014: Linda Reed Henderson

I stayed in Oklahoma after high school graduation, graduating from OSU in 1967 with a BS in psychology, and from OU School of Medicine in 1971. After internship at OU, I finished my Pediatric residency at UC San Francisco Children's Hospital in 1974. I have worked as a pediatrician ever since, with my interest area being child development. I am more or less retired now and just work about 5 days/month for California Children's Services. I am an attending consultant for rural county clinics taking care of kids with certain orthopedic/neurologic problems such as cerebral palsy. It actually is pretty upbeat--we have a combined clinic with physical therapy, nursing, equipment/brace vendors, family and CCS physician to try and coordinate therapy and maximize each child's potential. I've done it long enough that I have gotten to see a lot of the kids grow up. Most of my professional time was in private solo practice in Arcata, Ca, north of San Francisco in Humboldt County.

I married my first love, Lee Henderson, in 1969. I mean, it was the Summer of Love, as they say. Had its ups and downs, the best being 5 great kids. The downs are obvious when we meet at weddings/graduations of same kids. We stayed married 20 years; I guess I was too busy to deal with it earlier.

After kissing a few frogs, I settled down in 2007 and married my husband, Ray Stevens, who is a retired communications guy from Bakersfield. We met via a bass fishing web site, each looking for a tournament fishing partner. I was a C league wannabe and Ray is quite good and still fishing tournaments. It was a variation of the ad, "looking for companion, send picture of boat." Except at the time we were neither one looking for a mate. We are back in northern California near Lake Shasta, if you are in the area. Have a patio boat and tricked out bass boat with all the rest.

Oh yeah, those 5 kids. All doing well. Two teachers, a rheumatologist, an interior designer, and a computer engineer. And 7 grandkids. Scattered all over--San Antonio, Portland, San Francisco and yes, Moore, Ok. I rack up a lot of frequent flyer miles.

Looking forward to the reunion in Stillwater. Have not been there since 2005 at my Dad's funeral. He was living out here with me for a year or so before he died, basically of"old age." Mom died in 1992 of cancer. It will be great to renew friendships from back in the day.
