Bio, 2009: Mary Posey Guess Sonnenberg

After graduating Stillwater High I took a semester of classes at OSU; then married Joe Guess from Bethany, Ok. Shortly after our first daughter was born we moved to Boston, where our second daughter was born. While there I continued to work part time on my Music Ed. degree. It was a beautiful place to live but we were only there 3 years before moving back to Stillwater in 1970 so that Joe could finish his PhD in Physics. I never did finish that degree that I was working on! I found that playing with and taking care of my children and being a good wife was reward enough for life.

From Stillwater we moved around, living in the Nashville area; Oak Ridge, TN. and Cedar Rapids, Iowa before moving to beautiful Colorado in 1979. We had the priviledge of living in Littleton, CO before moving to beautiful Estes Park, CO where we lived for 13 years. In 2001, Joe died of a malignant brain tumor. We had been married almost 40 years so the adjustment of being alone was huge. To be closer to my daughters I moved to Castle Rock, CO. Quite a change. I still love Estes and go up there as often as possible.

While in Castle Rock I worked in a Montessori Charter school as a teacher's assistant so I did get to use those education courses. Early in 2008 I met Allen Sonnenberg and we married in June of 2008. We now live in Colorado Springs where he works for one of the school districts and I get to stay home. I continue to do scrapbooking, we are doing some major landscaping and redecorating projects to our home. I do volunteer work for our church - no longer with children. Too old for that.

All my life I have done much volunteer work in the music and children's programs of the churches where we attended. I was organist in several churches for many years.

Between Allen and I we have 4 children and 8 wonderful grandchildren ranging in age from 1 year to 21 years (his) and 13 to 21 years (mine). I have one great grandson who is 4 years old. My girls and grandchildren live close so we do lots of activities with the kids - track, volleyball and football. Allen's grandkids live in CA and VA so we don't see them much. Recently we bought a 5th wheel and truck so that we can travel easier.

I wish that I could be there for the reunion but responsibilites here keep us from coming. We do get to Stillwater often to see my mom, brothers and assorted other family who still live in that area. While I love living in Colorado I am still an "Okie" at heart!

Have a great reunion.
