Bio, 2014: Suezette Gay Branton
50 Years? Heck it seems like yesterday.Hi everyone. I can’t wait to see all of you at the reunion. I think I missed all of them except the 10th. Boy, have I changed since then – I know you haven’t!
After I graduated, I attended good ’ol OSU for a couple of years majoring in Sociology, when I met a very handsome guy (Charles Branton). He swept me off my feet and we married in 1967. He completed his degrees in Agricultural Economics while I worked at the OSU Student Union and Office Accounting. That experience gave me the tools I needed to work my way up the Administrative ranks at The University of Texas at Austin, where we moved in 1969. I worked several jobs there (Graduate School, Marine Science Institute, Artificial Intelligence), and my last position was with Aerospace Engineering. I retired in 2000 after 30 years. Charlie and I will be married 47 years in September.
Somewhere in between we had two beautiful and smart daughters who live in Midlothian, Texas. One, Kerry, is a Senior Vice President with Bank of America and Erin, is a Nurse Practitioner with the VA Hospital in Dallas. They married wonderful men and between them we have 5 precious grandchildren (Kaelan 16, Branton 11, Mason 9 and Max and Madi, our twins, are 6). Nothing makes me happier than being with them. They truly amaze me.
When Charlie retired from the State Department of Health, we moved to Canton, Texas, where we built our house in the middle of 88 acres. The kids come to fish; ride the horse and the four wheeler. Maybe you have heard of Canton – First Monday – the biggest Flea Market in Texas. Come see us sometime!
We have animals - ours and the ones that people drop off and we love them all. We play golf at the Van Zandt Country Club where I once made a “hole in one” (really!). We love to travel and so far our favorite cruise is to Alaska. It is absolutely breathtaking.
That’s about it. I have many wonderful memories of my high school years and wouldn’t change a thing even if I could. See you soon.
