Bio, 2014: Sue Horn Egizi

After high school graduation I started my college career at OU. I needed to step away from our family situation. After a year and a half at OU I returned to Stillwater to attend OSU where I earned an elementary education degree. I was fortunate to get a job in Houston teaching in the Spring Branch Independent School District. I loved my years teaching there but especially loved my students. I found teaching to be my passion. I met my husband to be, Ralph, in Houston in 1970. We were married almost two years later after he completed a tour of duty with Uncle Sam. We have now been together for 41 years.

After 20+ years in Houston Ralph got a job offer that moved the family to Chicago. After 9 years there another job offer moved us to our present home in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Eastern Tennessee where, as of the last year, we now live the retired life.
We have been very fortunate to do lots of corporate traveling including trips to Japan, China, Australia, New Zealand and all over Europe. I always wanted to travel as a child and have certainly fulfilled those dreams.

My life today is full of hobbies and more opportunities to travel. When we moved to TN I worked with injured hawks and owls at a local wild life park. We taught school groups and took care of the gorgeous raptors. I was even fortunate to spend an afternoon baby sitting baby wolf cubs. Additional hobbies now include golf (got a hole-in-one my second year), making greeting cards, cooking, and collecting and teaching about rocks and minerals using specimens from my collection.

It’s really been a wonderful life and I am grateful for God’s blessings. We have two wonderful children who are both married. Alec is a lawyer working for the public defenders office of the State of Colorado. Our daughter Angela is a women’s surgical nurse at Northwestern Hospital in downtown Chicago. We expecting our first grandchild in August.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
