Extras: Tulsa Get-Together, October 16, 2010
In October 2010, several of our Classmates gathered in Tulsa. We started out in the afternoon at Claudette Driever Selph’s house to just talk, eat and drink goodies, and watch a winning OSU football game. We then re-gathered in the evening at the Radisson Hotel for dinner. There was a cash bar and an Italian buffet. Gordie Daniel had set up a sound system with his Ipod, so we had our music playing softly in the background. We really had a good time catching up, remembering and laughing. It was amazing the stories that were told. What truly great friends we have in this class!
The doll (the last of the pictures below) was given to Ann Berry in appreciation for all she’s done over the years for the Class of 64’. Pam Hurd hand-made the doll from fabric using photos from the yearbook as a model for the uniform and shoes. The hair resembled the bob, teased look of the 60’s. Class of 64 Friends:
Our get together in Tulsa this October is getting closer. We believe it will be fun to just get together, relax, and chat. The following are some specifics about the event:
- Date is October 16, 2010.
- Location is the Radisson Hotel, 10918 E 41st Street. For those of you familiar with Tulsa, that is just East of Highway 169.
- Start time is 6 PM.
- Cost will be $45 per attendee.
- We will have a Taste of Italy buffet that evening and a cash bar.
- We expect to have music and a dance floor set up. All low key.
- There will be beverage and cheese at Claudette Selph’s the afternoon of the 16th from 1:30 to 4:00. We will furnish the cheese, coffee, and tea. Otherwise, bring your favorite beverage (alcoholic or otherwise).
The night before, a few of us will be having dinner at the hotel in the bar (Milligans). Come and join us, if you can. We plan to be there from 6:30pm until we get tired.
The Radisson hotel room rates are $109 (plus taxes) a night. To make room reservations, contact the hotel at 1-... and ask for “in-house reservations”. Let them know you are coming for the Stillwater High School dinner. There are other hotels not too far away whose rates may be better. Let me know if you would like me to check them out. I could then send out another email with that information
If you can join us and have not already let us know, please respond to this email or send a note to the address in the next paragraph as to the number attending. We need to give a count to the caterer. We would hate for anyone to go hungry.
The caterer requires a deposit, so it would be helpful if you would send us a check for $22.50 per attendee, one-half your cost (not including hotel room), by August 15. The remainder needs to be paid by September 30. Send your check to: Robert Hurd, 6730 E. 84th St., Tulsa, OK 74133.
The Committee (Claudette Driever Selph, Gordie Daniel, Jo Ella Hemphill Hansen and Bob Hurd) is really excited and can’t wait to see you again. The planning meetings have been a hoot, regaling recollections from grade school through high school graduation. It will be interesting to hear what tidbits you recall.
